Notes & Reviews:

"I am thrilled with The Hours Begin to Sing to introduce four more premiere recordings, three of which were written specifically for this disc. And although I cannot claim parentage in this drama of creation, I am honored to have been cast in the role of midwife." - Lisa Delan

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
Soprano Lisa Delan sings with commitment and fine musicianship and shows wonderful control, preciseness, and superb diction. This is a wonderful program. She champions American composers and new works. Corigliano's 3 Irish Folksong Settings for soprano and flute are a breath of fresh air - a thoughtful new approach to these well-known folksongs. Maxim Rubtsov (flute) plays with beautiful line and phrase inflection. Ms Delan brings the most color changes to her singing in the Dickinson songs. 'There's a Certain Slant of Light' shows Dickinson's lonely yearning beautifully. Also, Rumi: Quatrains of Love VIII: 64 is compelling and deliciously mysterious. Bolcom's Five Cabaret Songs show the range of sound and color Ms Delan is capable of. I wanted her to bring this kind of freedom of color change to more pieces, especially in the first half. David Kakauer's clarinet in Vilna Poems is truly wonderful. Colors, articulation, style, all show a remarkable command of the instrument. Matt Haimovitz offers memorable and captivating moments.
