Notes & Reviews:
One of the best recordings of Handel's large scale and impressive oratorio, Jephtha is played on period instruments by the Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin. In the title role is renowned British lyric tenor John Mark Ainsley, who continues to enjoy an active international career.

When I first reviewed Creed's recording, I was quite favorably impressed, and I am even more so on rehearing it. Creed creates a far more dramatic spirit from the outset and fleshes it out along the way. Creed has a generally excellent cast. All along, Creed makes his choir dig into its sections with meaningful inflections and rhythmic bounce. Brilliant's three-disc format is still a bargain at its normal market prices.
