Notes & Reviews:

From the liner notes by Mario Caroli: "Why a romantic program? Those closest to me know how often, as always, I changed my mind on the program! If in the end I have chosen what you hear, it is, perhaps, because what is considered to be (not very exactly and, chronologically speaking, with much inaccuracy) the 'romantic spirit' represents a 'revealed mystery' for me. In reality, the only piece to be 'historically' romantic in this program is Mendelssohn's Sonata in F, Op. 4. The rest of the program was born on the threshold of the nineteenth century, or even the twentieth. But what remains of 'romantic' in these works is the spirit, besides the preservation of the stylistic elements."
