Paidassi and Wagschal play Saint-Saens's Violin Sonata 1 with great vigor and a fine sense of drama. They are wise enough not to make any false steps in the very familiar score. PiernÚ reins it in by blending it with passages of a more academic style. He does write some very interesting harmonies and voicings for the piano The Franck Sonata is one of the warhorses of the violin repertoire. Paidassi and Wagschal acquit themselves honorably. Massenet's Meditation from Thais is a satisfying bonbon to end the recital. Paidassi plays a violin by Lorenzo Storioni of 1779.

Prizewinner of many international competitions, Solenne Païdassi won First Grand Prix in the 2010 Jacques Thibaud competition, a distinguished award that no French violinist had won since 1955! Together with Laurent Wagschal, she pays tribute to the great Belgian and French violin school, inherited from Ysaÿe.

Prize-winner of many international competitions, Solenne Paidassi won the First Grand Prix of the Jacques Thibaud competition in 2010, a distinguished award that no French violinist had won since 1955. Together with Laurent Wagschal, she pays tribute to the great Belgian (and French) violin school, inherited from Ysaye, with the inevitable Sonata from Franck. In addition there are two rarer works from Pierne and Saint-Saens that are just as remarkable as Franck.
