Notes & Reviews:
A most welcome reissue from the Berlin Classics catalogue, this release features excellent soloists of international fame, led by a young Fabio Luisi, one of the most sought-after opera conductors of today, working in the Metropolitan in New York among others. He won a 2012 Grammy Award for the Deutsche Grammophon production of Wagner's Ring.
BBC Music Magazine, October 2013
Luisi makes the best case for Bellini's least loved opera. If Aliberti's Beatrice is rarely graceful under vocal pressure, Gavanelli as Filippo is an almost Verdian villain.
Personnel: John David de Haan, Raemond Martin, Camille Capasso, Martin Thompson , Paolo Cavanelli, Lucia Alberti (vocals).
Recording information: Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin-Dahlem (06/1992).
