Notes & Reviews:

SOMM embarks on an exciting new series of recordings with pianist Valerie Tryon and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra! This first album, recorded in London last May, is conducted by American Kenneth Woods, who has been busy establishing a solid career in both the UK and the U.S. The works on this album consist of songs the artist has had in her repertoire for many years, recorded here for the first time. Born in Portsmouth, England in 1934, she is an artist of great stature and remains as popular as ever as her recitals continue to enchant audiences the world over. The disc includes two pieces recorded during her recital at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and a special recording of the Bach-Busoni Toccata and Fugue in D minor recorded in the UK.
