Notes & Reviews:

"Carnaval" follows the 2012 best selling release, Canadian Brass Takes Flight, and is specially arranged for the Canadian Brass by members Chris Coletti and Brandon Ridenour. Schumann's monumental keyboard works are given breathtaking, and reverential, performances. "Carnaval" once again displays the ability of the Canadian Brass to adapt uniquely virtuosic works to their own unique virtuosic skills - the result being a fresh, rewarding, and entirely legitimate interpretation of a masterwork.

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
This one is terrific: arrangements by the group's trumpeters Chris Coletti and Brandon Ridenour of Schumann's great piano pieces Carnaval and Kinderszenen. If you are a brass player or someone who enjoys brass music, you will be very impressed - the individual and group sounds are consistently excellent, the music-making heartfelt, intonation never in doubt, technical skills first-rate, the ensemble always precise. Timbres are varied with mutes and by the occasional use of instruments like piccolo trumpet, flugelhorn, and baritone horn. In CB's reading of Carnaval an interesting moment is in the intricate and sprightly 'Intermezzo: Paganini', where the pianist is playing quite fast with alternating right and left hands. In Kinderszenen the most memorable portions are the wonderfully warm ones where trumpets and trombone are put aside in favor of flugelhorns and baritone. Some of these perfectly blended chords are like a warm bath. Canadian Brass is still one of the best quintets anywhere.
