Performer Ensemble Composers

Notes & Reviews:

Ensemble Raro join forces with Andrej Bielow to record three jewels of the Romantic chamber repertoire. An unaffected sincerity of the five performers takes its roots from the profound respect they have for each other's musical identity. Complete identification with the musical material coupled with truly Romantic imagination makes for a very fine listening experience.

American Record Guide, January/February 2014
Dohnanyi's Quintet (1895) is an outstanding Opus 1. The more familiar Dvorak is, like so many of his works, full of good surprises, offering splendor and force in equal servings. Suk's Elegy (1902) is brief. Its form, dynamically, is an arch - soft, loud, soft. The performances are excellent. To pick out a star from among the stars, Diana Ketler's pianism, particularly in the Dohnanyi, is stunning. The recording enhances both the playing and the music with room-filling, resonant sound.
