Notes & Reviews:

This release showcases the Belgian Eugene Ysaye, a brilliantly gifted violinist. Ysaye traveled throughout Europe giving concerts, and also found success as a composer. One of the most talented violinists of his generation, Hungarian-born Kristof Barati performs these pieces with the utmost virtuosity.

American Record Guide, January/February 2014
This is the second release by Kristof Barati that I have had to review. He seems more in his element here. These are very musical performances too, and while my loyalty for a complete set of these sonatas remains with Thomas Zehetmair. Barati is clearly a serious thinker. His tremendous technical equipment is also a huge plus in these performances. His octaves are usually pure, and his articulation is invariably crystal clear. He plays the "Lady Harmsworth" Stradivarius of 1703.
