Notes & Reviews:

The original recordings were made in 1954 and 1957 and demonstrate Mitropoulos' profound sense of the organic nature of Tchaikovsky's music.

American Record Guide, May/June 2014
These recordings were first issued on Columbia LPs in 1954 and 1957, the Capriccio in stereo. In the Fifth Symphony Mitropoulos emulates Toscanini in a hard-edged, furious performance. The Capriccio Italien, while also fastpaced, is given more room to breathe and is altogether effective. It is a memorable performance.

An interesting opportunity to listen to the work of a gifted - but now sadly overlooked - conductor.
