Notes & Reviews:

This SACD contains a world premiere recording of the Monn Concerto with the original Schönberg cadenzas written in 1913 for Pablo Casals.

American Record Guide, January/February 2014
The Monn Cello Concerto with Schoenberg's cadenzas is a premiere recording. Naturally, they're full of Schoenberg's characteristic ingenuity and thoroughly thematic in content. At the same time, they retain much of the spirit of their times - only some glissandos into harmonics betray a 20th century viewpoint. Schwarz's playing has good intonation and phrasing, with a pleasing tone quality. It's a concert performance. Cybele's sound is both resonant and clear.
