Album Remarks & Appraisals:
Praised by the LA Times as 'a dazzling delight,' Phyllis' new album features a wide range of works written or dedicated to her in the last few years, as she continues to expand the range of the toy piano in a concert setting. Playing an instrument that has no set boundaries or genre, Phyllis has been invited to perform at festivals and concerts around the world.
American Record Guide, November/December 2013
I found this very engaging. An interesting, nicely recorded; I came away with a strong appreciation for Chen's artistry and a renewed feeling for the unique and rewarding aspects of the toy piano. It is a testament to the quality of the music, and to Chen's abilities as a performer, that the record is perfectly effective exactly as it is.
