Notes & Reviews:

Ashley Wass performs a musical autobiography: a selection of works that are personal to him, all of which are directly inspired by J.S. Bach. Wass describes the project as being '...the first mixed repertoire recording over which I've had complete control - a series of pieces that have been particularly significant in my life and career to date.' The booklet contains notes by Ashley, detailing the stories which inspired his choices, including the Beethoven Bagatelles which were part of his winning program at the London International Piano Competition.

American Record Guide, March/April 2014
The acoustic seems to vary: the Kurtag arrangement of the Sinfonia from Bach's Cantata 106 sounds very intimate and warm. It is one of the most exciting readings of the Barber I've ever heard and would be my first choice. All the performances are quite fine.
