Gabriel V Brass Ensemble presents Celebration in Brass — an inspiring collection of fanfares, beloved hymns and masterworks arranged for brass by twentieth-century composers. Music lovers will revel in these resounding works of praise, meditation and faith-filled celebration, which include music by James Curnow, Karl Jenkins, Jack Stamp, and John Stevens. American Record Guide, January/February 2014
Most of the pieces are inspirational, and quite a few are composed by James Curnow and Seagull Seven. It's a pretty good ensemble, and there are some beautiful moments. My favorite pieces are the Benedictions. The one by John Stevens is for an ensemble of euphoniums and tubas that makes (of course) very warm sounds. The one by Karl Jenkins includes beautiful solos, especially by unnamed euphonium and trumpet players.
