Notes & Reviews:

In celebration of legendary American pianist Gary Graffman's 85th birthday, The Complete Album Collection is the first-ever release of his complete recordings. This 24-CD box set begins with Graffman's debut recording from 1956, Schubert's "Wanderer" Fantasy and Prokofiev's Piano Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3, available for the first time on CD. Also included in The Complete Album Collection are notable performances of Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Pagnini from 1964 with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic, Prokofiev's Third Piano Concert with George Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra as well as Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Graffman's solo recital repertoire is represented by a generous selection of Brahms, Chopin, Liszt and Schumann. There is also a reissue of what may be Graffman's most widely heard recorded performance - George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue from the soundtrack of the 1979 Woody Allen movie, Manhattan. All of the music is newly remastered from the original analogue tapes with many of the performances available here for the first time on CD.
