Notes & Reviews:

Outstanding British-violinist Tamsin-Waley Cohen - described by the late Ruggiero Ricci following a masterclass as the 'most exceptionally gifted young violinist I have ever encountered' - performs a fittingly prodigious work by Felix Mendelssohn. The Violin Concerto in D minor was composed when Mendelssohn was just 13 and is paired with his Concerto for Violin and Piano. Waley-Cohen is joined by British pianist Huw Watkins alongside the Orchestra of the Swan conducted by David Curtis.

Gramophone Magazine, January 2014
This performance sizzlingly draws attention to the preternatural gifts of invention and lithe craftsmanship that Mendelssohn possessed...There is nothing conventional...about the way in which the Orchestra of the Swan bring the music ear-catchingly alive...all the witty repartee is there, as is the charm.

The Observer, 29th September 2013
Waley-Cohen makes the utmost of [the D minor Concerto's] innocent, songful lyricism...The playing from the soloists is virtuosic and the Orchestra of the Swan give light-footed support.
