Notes & Reviews:
On this disc, the music of "Wald" and "Walden" are embedded in field recordings by Stefan Winter. The title was borrowed from American philosopher Henry David Thoreau, who wrote about a life of solitude in the woods, where he spent two years in an attempt to abandon all artificial, society-grown needs and rediscover the oneness of the human being with nature. Similarly, "Walden" was composed in a style of "new simplicity," in which unnecessary material was peeled back in order to make space for other characteristics such as conciseness and clarity.
