Notes & Reviews:
Böhm's performance is instinct with grandeur and a fierce, spontaneous power from the very outset. Rarely have the opening horn calls towered up as imposingly as they do here; rarely have the string tremolos sounded so compelling... The VPO plays with towering commitment and the recording further helps to convey the sense of the music's vaulted splendor.
