Notes & Reviews:

Praga's SACD featuring piano soloist Slávka Pechocová-Vernerová, accompanied by the Prazák Quartet and Pavel Nejtek on double-bass, demonstrates the contemporary relevance of these versions. Praga celebrates the Zemlinsky Quartet's 20th anniversary with a rich collection of chamber music by Dvorák. This SACD brings together the two best-known Slavonic quartets and a trio, written as an homage to Mozart and a work that the composer (also a violist) loved to play with friends.

American Record Guide, March/April 2014
If you want only Dvorak, Zemlinsky does a fine job here with Quartet 14. This is the composer's last chamber work, and it is rich and complex in temperament. The fast passages are energetic and crisp, and the long melodic lines are sweet and perfectly phrased. III, a touching Lento molto e cantabile is particularly lovely. The Terzetto is also given a wonderful treatment here. II, Larghetto, is remarkably sensitive, giving way to III, a raucous scherzo. IV, a theme and variations, ends with an exhilarating flourish.
