Notes & Reviews:

American composer Mathew Rosenblum's new disc on BMOP/sound features both the quartet and orchestra versions of his Möbius Loop (written for the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet), his Double Concerto (for Kenneth Coon, baritone saxophonist of the Raschèrs, and Lisa Pegher, percussionist), and the recent Sharpshooter. Rosenblum's music, characterized by a confluence of his classical training with unusual tunings and a 21-note-to-the-octave scale system of his own design, is played to precise effect by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, under the expert direction of Gil Rose, and enhanced by the featured world-renowned soloists, for whom these works were written.
