Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, March/April 2014
The young prize-winning Greek clarinetist Dionysis Grammenos is turning heads in Europe as a soloist, conductor, and festival director. Later in the program he teams up with Russian pianist Karina Sposobina for the Debussy Premiere Rhapsodie, the best known solo de concours in the clarinet repertoire and probably the most demanding. Grammenos is a promising career soloist, boasting excellent fingers, a wide dynamic range, a fine legato, and a confident stage presence. His interpretations are lively and his phrasing is well done. The Vienna Radio Symphony handles the Spohr and the Nielsen with aplomb. Sposobina, on the other hand, draws the listener into the Debussy in the very first notes, and she remains dedicated to the final measures, setting them up with skill and zest.
