Britten: War Requiem / Christian Gerhaher, Emily Magee, Mark Padmoore. Mariss Jansons

Album Summary

>Britten, Benjamin : War Requiem, Op. 66
Performers Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

To mark Britten's 100th birthday, Mariss Jansons conducted the composer's best-known and most moving work, War Requiem, in March 2013. In addition to the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the Tolz Boys' Choir can also be heard. An outstanding ensemble of soloists rounds off this remarkable recording.

American Record Guide, March/April 2014
Padmore is back in the tenor slot, this time with German forces (and an American soprano). Simon Rattle's recording is still reasonable.

Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: München, Philharmonie im Gasteig (03/13/2013-03/15/2013).
