Notes & Reviews:
This is a world premier recording of the French version of Donizetti's Le Duc d'Albe.
American Record Guide, May/June 2014
Le Duc d'Albe was Donizetti's last opera. It was composed in 1840 in French for the Paris Opera but left unfinished when he died. This recording was made at the May 11, 2012 performance in Ghent. The singers are basically good. Baritone Petean is quite emotional in his singing, creating a believable character with light attractive grace. His musicianship is OK.
