Notes & Reviews:

BMOP/sound is proud to present American George Antheil's landmark Ballet Mécanique and A Jazz Symphony (complete original versions) on its newest disc. One of the most controversial early 20th-century composers, Antheil spent much of his early music career in Europe, composing the two featured pieces before World War II. Ballet Mécanique is an ambitious piece that, due to modern technology, can now be recorded in the way Antheil originally planned: with 16 synchronized pianolas among its unconventional instrumentation. A Jazz Symphony, domestically premiered in the same concert as Ballet Mécanique, is also rarely heard in this original version. Gil Rose and the BMOP orchestra bring gusto and authenticity to these two important works.

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
It's delightful and a ton of fun. Rose and his band outdo themselves in this splendid release. If you are at all interested in American music, this is a must.
