Notes & Reviews:
Schubert's last great chamber work, his String Quartet in C of 1828, remained unperformed and unpublished for at least twenty years after his death. It is now regarded as one of the pinnacles of chamber music, and seen by performers as one of the great challenges to their artistry. Its writing shows the composer in a light-hearted mood, successfully combining weight, profundity, melodic charm with breathtaking technical assurance. On this recording the Kuss Quartet are joined by cellist Mikl?s Perényi.
