Notes & Reviews:
Winfried Zillig conducts this highly erotic music with an incredible cast featuring Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart. This is a must for any serious opera collector.
American Record Guide, May/June 2014
The libretto is bizarre. Alviano had sublimated his sexual longings by creating an island paradise called Elysium. There is some great singing here. Helmut Krebs lyric Alviano will be the preferred by many. Wiemann's Podesta is a powerful bass presence. Crass, and Stewart are fine, too. Conductor Winfried Zillig was primarily a composer. If the Walhall were a modern recording, it would contend with and probably surpass the Conlon. Die Gezeichneten is full of gorgeous music.
