Classica Francese - Chansons and chamber works by Debussy, Cras & Jolivet / Anette Maiburg, flute; Alexandra Cravero, voice

Notes & Reviews:

Anette Maiburg is taking us on another conducted tour, bringing musical worlds together. "Classica francese" gives the enterprising and exceptional flautist the opportunity to show us that high-calibre chamber music and deeply expressive chansons need not be worlds apart. She is joined by Alexandra Cravero, whose remarkably flexible voice leaves these well-known songs haunting us, and Emmanuel Ceysson, whose sensitive harp playing has delighted audiences and reviewers alike.

Claude Debussy's Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp on this SACD where the original MDG 3D sound lifts both heart and soul. Emmanuel Ceysson has arranged Debussy's marvelous "Prélude à l'apres-midi d'un faune" for "Classica francese". The sun shines from the Quintet for Flute, Harp and String Trio by Jean Cras. He was Vice-Admiral of the French Navy. He always sailed with a piano, though, so he could compose in his free time.
