For the complete Daphnis Maazel and the immaculate Clevelanders conjure feathery textures and erotic heat: a winning mix. Much of the Debussy also impresses, but not their insufficiently crystalline Jeux.
The new Daphnis glows resplendently: it is sumptuously recorded with splendidly bold detail and refinement of timbre while the Cleveland Orchestra play with virtuosity, impressive unanimity of ensemble and homogeneity of tone.
