Notes & Reviews:

On this recording, pianist Adam Laloum offers his personal, fiery and passionate vision of German Romanticism. The Piano Sonata No.1 and the Grande Humoreske present the dreamlike universe of Schumann, with its contrasts, its madness and its poetry. These two tormented works were composed as the composer waited desperately to marry his beloved Clara. Laloum, 2009 winner of the Clara Haskil Competition (at age 22), is a pianist to watch. He has already performed at many prestigious festivals and concerts halls as soloist and chamber musician in France, Switzerland, Jordan and Mexico.

American Record Guide, March/April 2014
I love the Schumann Humoreske and am pleased that more pianists are recording and performing it. I am also pleased that the difficulties in Schumann performance are beginning to vanish as more pianists understand his elusive rubato, rhythmic quirks, and frequent quixotic fantasies and imaginative transformations. Sonata 1 is another triumph for Laloum. Laloum maintains his affinity for the composer. Laloum, born in 1987, achieved international recognition when he took First Prize at the 2009 Clara Haskil Competition in Hamburg.
