American Record Guide, May/June 2014
One of the small pieces Donizetti composed for Paris is this charming, tune-filled delight, Rita, ou Le Mari Battu (Rita, or the Battered Husband). The music is pure Italian Donizetti, exuberant, cheery, and memorable, "take-home-tunes" - a one-act opera-comique with spoken dialog. As charming and well-done as this recording is. The DVD was an absolute charmer!
