Notes & Reviews:
From Elgar's Part Songs to one of Britten's very last works, Sacred and Profane, this collection from the RIAS-Kammerchor presents some of the most beautiful and best-loved pieces in the English a capella repertory, many of them rarely recorded. All the composers here show the instinctive response to poetry, be it Shakespeare, Tennyson or Auden, so characteristic of the English tradition. This title, released for the first time in 2002, is now available at mid-price.
BBC Music Magazine, February 2014
The crisp and agile voices of the Berlin-based RIAS Kammerchor adapt easily to the English collegiate choral idiom in this attractive programme of part-songs.
