Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
The concertos are the familiar stereo recordings made for EMI in 1957 and 1960. The item of interest is the Chaconne, recorded off the air from a 1956 Salzburg concert. The six-minute fragment is very grand.

The great violin virtuoso Nathan Milstein is the focus of this release in Praga's Reminiscences series, which features historic recordings remastered for SACD. The disc offers a generous program that includes Violin Concertos by Brahms and Goldmark, and as an encore, the Chaconne from Bach's Partita No.2 for solo violin. Milstein is accompanied in the concertos by The Philharmonia, led by Anatole Fistoulari in the Brahms and Harry Blech in the Goldmark.
