Notes & Reviews:

Born in Finland, Ilkka Turta studied at the Turku Music Institute and the Turk Music Academy. He performs solo and chamber music recitals in London, Greece, Russia and Finland. He plays a Stauffer guitar as well as a modern guitar made by Kauko Liikanen.

American Record Guide, May/June 2014
Mr Turta is another fine Finnish guitarist, student of Timo Korhonen and Ismo Eskelinen. He shares his teachers's bold, beautiful sound and intense interpretive approach. He begins with a set of his own ten etudes, composed for a graduation project at Turku Institute of Applied Sciences. They are calm works for the most part, stunningly beautiful. Leo Brouwer's Decameron Negro was once the piece of the moment for guitarists. Toshio Hosokawa's arrangements of two Japanese songs are peaceful and static. This appears to be Turta's first recording. I hope to hear more.
