Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
Soloist Renata Cataldi plays with charm and sparkle. The Musiche Da Camera ensemble is tight, with nice control, energy, and a light breezy character that suits the music well. Tempos are well judged and never lag, with a subtle give-and-take around the beat and dance-like variety in the pulse. Aloys Thomas Raimund von Harrach (1669-1742) was an important Austrian diplomat who served as Viceroy of the Kingdom of Naples. The pieces are tours de force, with breathtaking passagework that demands stamina, technical prowess, and subtle expression. Soloist Daniel Rothert makes it all seem effortless, even in angular melodies such as in the Andante of Sammartini's Sonata in F.

  • These works represented on this disc demonstrate the 18th century Neapolitan artistic milieu, revealing a uniformity in conception as development of the concerto form advanced. Flautist Renata Cataldi is an artist of formidable musicality and interpretive skill as well as a scholar of considerable merit.
  • Egidio Mastrominico conducts Le Musiche da Camera.
