Notes & Reviews:

Mozart: Violin Concertos & Sonatas is violinist Ray Chen's first album of all Mozart repertoire. He is joined by renowned Mozart interpreter Maestro Christoph Eschenbach, who not only conducts the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra for the concertos, but also accompanies Ray on the piano for the Violin Sonata. For both of the Concertos, Chen composed his own cadenzas. The Festival Orchestra, founded by Leonard Bernstein in 1987, consists of exceptional young instrumentalists.

Winner of the Queen Elisabeth and the Yehudi Menuhin Competitions, Ray Chen is among the most compelling young violinists today. Born in Taiwan and raised in Australia, Ray was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of 15. He is the youngest soloist ever to perform in the televised Nobel Prize Concert and his Carnegie Hall debut was met with a standing ovation.

Chen is always looking to expand the classical music audience by increasing its appeal to a younger generation using all available social media platforms. In his efforts to break down barriers between classical music, fashion and pop culture, he is supported by Giorgio Armani and was recently featured in Vogue magazine.

Ray has released two critically acclaimed albums on Sony: a recital program, Virtuoso, and the Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky Concertos. Following the success of these recordings, Ray was profiled by Strad and Gramophone magazines as "the one to watch."
