Notes & Reviews:

  • A curated tour of well-and-lesser known sacred music of J.S. Bach for bass voice, assembled and sung by Christian Hilz.
  • Acclaimed for his versatility in both concert and operatic repertoire, Mr. Hilz has toured and performed internationally with success.
  • Currently a Professor for Voice in Bern, Switzerland.

American Record Guide, May/June 2014
Fnrche Dich Nicht is the title of this anthology of familiar and less familiar arias and sinfonias from Bach's choral works arranged according to the church year. The well-recorded and vibrant sound of historically informed instrumental playing sounded promising as the program began. This is the first recording by Capella Hilaria. I find it clean, colorful, and richly engaging here. The solo playing of Martin Patscheider (trumpet) and Marion Treupel-Franck (transverse flute) are particularly commendable. The instrumental playing is lustrous and expressive.
