Notes & Reviews:

An all-Beethoven recital - three cornerstones of the repertoire. Alexej Gorlatch simultaneous won the audience prize and six more special prizes at the International ARD Music Competition in 2011. Remarkably, within just six years prior, he won first prizes at nine important international piano competitions. The present recording was made in July 2013 in Munich. 'Awe-inspiringly confident and assured...one of those players who can take you into area that others just can't reach' - Irish Times

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
This recording of three well-known Beethoven sonatas (Pathetique, Moonlight, Tempest) by Ukrainian pianist Alexej Gorlatch is well worth your notice. Gorlatch's approach is wonderfully balanced: both forceful and highly restrained. The young pianist's attention to detailed considerations of articulation and pedaling creates a very good, very controlled sound. This is in evidence from the first moment of the record: the famous forte-piano chord that opens the Pathetique; executed with precision. Perfectly calibrated for the experience of the music he wishes to craft.
