Notes & Reviews:

This disc offers an unusual pairing of two of Brahms's most popular scores performed by two uncontested Russian masters. The great conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky leads his Leningrad Philharmonic in the Symphony No.3 and in one of these two artists' rare collaborations, pianist Sviatoslav Richter is the soloist in a powerful reading of the Piano Concerto No.2. This SACD from Praga is an indispensable historic release and a fitting tribute to two legendary artists.
