Notes & Reviews:

Bach's late, contrapuntal masterwork, left incomplete upon his death in 1750. Played here on an untempered piano and complete on 2CDs. French/Swiss pianist Cedric Pescia has concertized throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Professor of piano at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve. Gold Medalist - 2002 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah (USA).

American Record Guide, July/August 2014
Pescia follows the order of the fugues in the New Bach Edition. Contrapunctus 9 has a good quick tempo and expression; staccato appears only when necessary (for instance, in the double thirds passages), and there's great clarity in the counterpoint. Contrapunctus 10, in a slow tempo, has a beautifully phrased subject and excellent contrapuntal clarity. Pescia uses the pedal quite freely, and the sound is fine. This is an outstanding account of the Art of Fugue on piano and takes its place in my collection.
