Notes & Reviews:

Florencio Asenjo's music is inspired by literature and the visual arts as these three works so aptly show. El Gran Teatro del Mundo (The Great Stage of the World) is the title of a sacramental play by Calderon de la Barca, while Gleanings from the World of Lafcadio Hearn comes musically from parts of Hearn's stories. The Birth of Venus reflects Asenjo's reaction to Sandro Botticelli's Nascita della Venere. This is the sixth release of Asenjo's orchestral music to be released on Albany Records.

American Record Guide, November/December 2014
Florencio Asenjo practices "maximalism", by which he means that he is constantly developing the substance of his music, moving on to something new in order to create the greatest possible amount of content. Harmonies are mostly tonal, and everything is nicely orchestrated and pleasant to listen to. Everything is well written.
