Notes & Reviews:

A double-disc symphony set by Vadim Salmanov (1912-1978), a worthy representative of the Leningrad composing school. His symphonies suggest significant creative evolution. From dramatic conflicts in the first, to pacified pictures of nature in the second, to 12-tone experimentation in the third, and finally coming to a synthesis of 20th century music and Russian national melody in the fourth, and last, symphony. Recorded 1957-1977 with legendary conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky.
