Notes & Reviews:

An intriguing and diverse album of 20th century music for the unsung bassoon, one that fully exploits the baritone-bass character of the bassoon and its spectacular capabilities in all registers of the instrument. Katarzyna Zdybel is one of the most accomplished bassoonists of the young generation, having been recognized with numerous international competition awards. Principal bassoonist of the Royal Danish Orchestra, 2011-12.

American Record Guide, November/December 2014
Overall, Ms Zdybel has smooth, clear, and deliberate articulation. Her tone is clear, even, and complemented by a very well-crafted and controlled vibrato. From every angle, it is apparent she and her colleagues have worked out every bit of balance and interplay between soloist and accompaniment. The exchange of phrases and balance, and the sensitivity to one another between string quartet and soloist, are simply fantastic. It is clear that thought and devotion went into this album. The program softens the ear with bassoon and strings, moves to bassoon and piano, then solo, and back to bassoon and strings. The performers' talents develop over the short 65 minutes the way that characters in a well-written drama might, endearing themselves progressively to the audience.
