Notes & Reviews:

"I have written music out of my heart, and if you play it out of yours, the performance will be a success!" This is one of the credos of Finnish composer Tauno Marttinen (1912 - 2008). He was living in the birthplace of Jean Sibelius, Hameenlinna, and he built up musical life there, becoming one of the most prolific composers from the land of the thousand lakes. One of his most-played works is his violin concerto, on this record brilliantly performed by the French master Philippe Graffin together with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ari Rasilainen.
