Notes & Reviews:

Hansjörg Schellenberger has demonstrated his work as a musician on more than fifty CDs with all the major recording firms. Moreover, ten years ago he founded his own label, Campanella Musica, on which he himself is represented with works by composers such as CarlPhilipp Emanuel Bach, Joseph Haydn, and Ludwig van Beethoven as well as with a French baroque program and various works by modern classical composers.

American Record Guide, March/April 2015
This rendition of Mozart's Oboe Quartet is one of the best I've heard. Schellenberger calls it "the most wonderful work ever written for the oboe", and his exuberant performance makes it difficult to argue that point. His tone is glowing and consistent in every register, and he plays with beautiful phrasing and solid technique. The soaring melodies in II are played with mournful elegance and grace. III is given a knockout reading. Schellenberger hits them like they're nothing to worry about. Also on the program is Haydn's Seven Last Words of Christ. This is an orchestral work. The first violin plays a melodic role, and the other strings accompany. In the notes for this release, Schellenberger remarks that assigning this role to the oboe, with its difference in color, strengthens its melodic character. True enough. Schellenberger sails through this work as beautifully as any violinist.
