Notes & Reviews:

This La Ritirata release featuring the complete string quartets of Crisóstomo de Arriagais a follow-up to their Early Baroque program Il Spiritillo Brando Glossa. On this new recording, the underlying spirit of La Ritirata is of an intensive consideration of musical (and other) sources before attempting fresh interpretations. The use here of period instruments for these works is a first.

BBC Music Magazine, June 2014
The quartets are attractive pieces, by turns naively innocent and emotionally ambiguous, but always written with real flair for the medium...La Ritirata give lively and alert accounts, clearly in sympathy with the music.
