Notes & Reviews:

The Perpetual Diet of the Holy Roman Empire held its sessions in Regensburg from 1663 to 1806. Festive music formed part of the sessions ceremonial and social functions. Beginning in 1748 the court chapel of the Prince of Thurn and Taxis was made responsible for the musical program. Theodor von Schacht, appointed its court music director in 1773, always followed current stylistic trends, as reflected in his oeuvre. His musical language, schooled on Haydn, has a large share of discovery potential.
