Notes & Reviews:

Bach's post as Leipzig's Collegium Musicum director (1729-39), obliged him to give at least weekly concerts all year round and to provide the ensemble repertoire, composed as well as arranged. These three double concertos for harpsichord, dating from around 1736, are all arrangements of earlier compositions. Together with Masaaki Suzuki and a string quintet from the Bach Collegium Japan is his son Masato, who also arranged Bach's Orchestral Suite No.1 for two unaccompanied harpsichords.

This is a very fine release, the BIS engineering to be relished in stereo as well as in the added space and sense of detail you have from the 5.0 SACD set-up. This is one case in which feeling as if you are amongst the musicians is nothing but pleasuable.
