Notes & Reviews:

Mars & Venus: A Musical Portrait of Men & Women selects nine classical pieces that are tied together by the loose theme of men and women and Mars and Venus. There are excerpts from Holst, Berlioz, Prokofiev, Strauss and Debussy on the collection, inlcuding pieces from Romeo and Juliet and The Planets, and all of the music is featured in solid performances. Mars & Venus may be a blatant attempt to cash in on the similarly titled book, but the disc is nevertheless an entertaining classical collection in its own right. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
