Notes & Reviews:

Well-known and admired during his lifetime, Brahms - with his broad and generous personality, now conservative, now innovative - was a major figure on the Viennese scene. The compositions for clarinet, dating from the very end of his life, were inspired by an encounter with the clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld.
