Notes & Reviews:

Under the title 'Occitan Nights', a few troubadour songs have been collected here. Those poet-musicians celebrated the beauty of women, praised the courage of men and evoked the parting of lovers at daybreak. The CÉLADON Ensemble offers us a poetic vision of these lovely melodies (with their complete texts); the accompaniment, with four instruments, provides a particularly elegant sound environment sublimated by the perfect acoustics of the church of Notre-Dame de Centeilles.

American Record Guide, November/December 2014
This anthology of troubadour songs includes some that have become "standards", such as Bernart de Ventadorn's 'Can l'erba fresch', Guiraut de Bronelh's alba, 'Reis Glorios', and the Comtesa de Dia's 'A Chantar m'er'. The other songs by Macrabru, Raimon Jordan, Cadenet, Raimon de Miraval, and Berenguier de Palazol are pleasant additions to the available recordings. The conceit for this recording, organizing the songs in three groups (Before nightfall, During the night, and After the night), comes from countertenor Paulin Bndgen, who sings most of the songs. Clara Coutouly adds a contrasting voice (both in terms of how the lyrics are perceived and in timbre) and has the better diction.
